Creation UK Premiere - Community Music

WELCOME

Here at SWPC we strongly feel that making  music is one of the most important activities you can do, either as an individual or as part of a group and should be made available and accessible to all. We are always welcoming new members to join our musical family and are currently welcoming members to join the choir or the orchestra. You are entitled to a two rehearsal trial period.

We currently have vacancies in our string, brass and percussions sections. You can also see more details on available positions here

Marcus Alleyne

Founder & Director

Since entering the music world in 2012, Award Winning Conductor Marcus Alleyne has taken community music making to new heights, capturing the hearts, minds and ears of musicians and audiences from around the world.

Marcus Alleyne Conductor

Our Journey

SWPC was founded in the Autumn of 2015, when Marcus was invited to bring musicians and singers together to raise funds for a listed building restoration project. The ensemble, then know as the Palace Theatre Philharmonia, hosted their first performance in October of 2015 followed by a Christmas programme in the December of that same year. At the end of the process both the choir and orchestra, which by then had reached a membership of 150 musicians, decided to remain as an ensemble, under the direction of Marcus. In 2016 we became the South West Philharmonia and Chorus, that we know and love today.
